Unlocking a Potential Business…

Several months ago I was having trouble with an entry door and a lock at one of my businesses. After a quick search I realized there is only one locksmith in this town?!? I called the locksmith out to the business and he gave me a quote for the repairs, and we agreed on a price. The work was performed and the doors worked great. A week passes and I receive an invoice for $70 more than what we agreed upon. The locksmith assumed I could afford the additional charge because I was a national company? Is this really how you conduct business? You make up charges because you assume I can afford it?

I never have had the desire to be a locksmith, but this invoice sounded like a challenge. I immediately checked into the licensing requirements in the State of Michigan to become a locksmith. Surprise, there are no requirements. Additional research revealed several other states also do not require any license to be a locksmith. I searched Amazon.com for locksmithing tools and a book on locksmithing and for less than $150 I was in business.
